Guild Information

Ranks

Chief Worgen

Kanab: Guild master of [Wolves of War]. Involved in all decision making processes and highest level of authority for all issues of the guild.

Dire Wolf

Handles intra-guild issues as they develop. Assists in decision making and policy development process. Has the ability to add, remove, promote and demote members of the guild. Has access to officers forums.

Grey Wolf

Gray Wolf denotes a guild officer rank. Promotion to the officer rank is done by invitation only and is done to fill specific roles with additional duties and responsibilities. Officers are expected to maintain communication with the general membership, and provide leadership in the following roles:

Raid leader(s): Responsible for scheduling and leading raids, researching and sharing encounter strats, managing loot distribution.

Healing Lead: Responsible for meeting minimum attendance requirements, researching and understanding all healing classes and specs, specifying healing assignments during raids, evaluating performance of raid healers to ensure continued effectiveness and providing guidance for guild healers

Ranged DPS Lead: Responsible for researching and understanding ranged DPS classes and specs including casters and hunters, assigning specific tasks and tactics during raids, evaluating performance and providing guidance for members.

Melee DPS Lead: Responsible for overseeing tank rotation and melee DPS during raids, evaluating performance and offering guidance for members.

Recruitment Officer: Responsible for keeping recruitment ads up to date in various venues, regularly updating the list of classes/specs open for recruitment, serving as primary initial contact for potential recruits, assigning mentors to probationary applicants.

Wolf

This rank is for those people who have completed a trial period and are now a permanent member of our pack. These people will have access to member-only forums and are invited to participate in the application review process.

Wolf Pup

Once we have approved your application you will move into "Wolf Pup" status. This is done for us to evaluate your play style and attitude, and to get a general feel for how you fit into our family. This probationary period also lets the recruit see if Wolves is a good fit for them as well. Attitude and aptitude are what we look for. Jerks with great gear don't get extra traction because of their über gear. If you are recruited to raid, we will make it a point to get you invited to raids so that we can evaluate your performance. Once we know you are here to stay you will be moved into a permanent position.

Alts

If you have alts they are welcome to join the guild. The general rule of thumb is that we don't bring alts to raids. Furthermore, once you have chosen a character as your main we will disallow switching of main characters. Once we have invested loot and drops into your character switching mains will only slow down progression. Please be sure you are playing the class/spec you want to play when you select your main. Alts will never raid unless there is nobody else to fill a needed slot.

Raiding

Our guild consists of grown-ups who have the desire and skill to experience raid content, but who are limited in their game time due to responsibilities outside of the game. We are one of the few guilds in the game who can master the toughest encounters at the highest levels, in only 9 hours of raiding per week, broken up into three evenings of 3 hours each session. For this reason, our core raid philosophy is based on efficiency and effectiveness.

Raid Schedule

We are a West Coast guild on a Central time zone server, and schedule our raid times at night, giving raiders time to get home from work, enjoy dinner with family, tuck kids into bed, etc.. Typically start times are at 9:30 PM Server Time (Central). We will raid no more than 3 days a week. Currently we raid on Wednesday, Sunday and Monday. If you wish to attend 25-man raids more often than three nights a week, we are not for you.

Raid Policy

Although we wish to keep the number of days per week that we raid limited we have high expectations for performance. We expect you to show up ready to raid. This means you will have all bandages, elixirs, potions, reagents, and specialty gear on hand, furthermore you will have all gear repaired before you show up for the raid.

There will be no hard percentage that you must maintain, however War Wolves are expected to raid as frequently as other War Wolves. If we notice that your attendance is slipping we will approach you about this. If you know you are going to have an event coming up that will limit your play time, let us know in advance. If you predict that there will be a permanent change in availability we can always move you to Wolf position.

Raid Specs

You are joining the guild to perform a certain role, we trust that you will spec to perform your role as best as you can. For some classes and specs we may require that you have some specific talents, however we will not micro-manage your build. If we look at your build and cannot figure out why you would pick a certain talent or if a talent seems to contradict conventional theory for your class we may approach you to find out why you have selected it. If we feel that your spec is limiting your performance in raids you should expect us to approach you about it. We have the expectation that you will be eager to adjust your spec in a way that optimize your performance in raids.

Raid Addons

On raids we require that you have a handful of addons installed. All people who wish to attend raids must have oRA2, Deadly Boss Mods or Big Wigs, PallyPower for Paladins, and Ventrilo. You may also install the EPGP addon to track your raid loot priority (explained in next section). You will not be able to raid unless you have these installed. We will perform a version check before raids to ensure that all people are running these.

Raid Loot System

We use a system called EPGP to manage loot in 25 man content. The idea behind EPGP is that you accumulate EP (Effort Points) based on attending raids, downing bosses and contributing to posted farm events. Whenever you receive loot in a 25 man raid you will also accumulate GP (Gear Points). Priority for future loot is decided by dividing EP into GP. If a handful of people want the same item, whoever has the highest ratio has loot priority and that item will be assigned to them. If two people have equal priority, they may do a random roll to determine who gets the item.

Guild Reputation

As an adult guild, we ask that applicants be at least 21 years of age. In addition, we expect our members to behave maturely. It is important to note that every interaction in-game you have with other players not only reflects upon your reputation, but it also impacts the reputation of the guild as well. We want the [Wolves of War] tag to represent the very best attitude and skill level one can have and any player who behaves in a manner not in concordance with these expectations hurts the reputation of the guild. Such behavior will not be tolerated.

Some examples of behavior that is not tolerated include, but are not limited to:

Abusing/swearing in public chat channels

Stealing mobs/resources from other horde players

Using racist or sexist slurs (including the use of such gamer words "rape," and "gay," which are considered offensive)

Publicly demeaning other players
